At L.F. Hire, we believe that every great project starts with the right tools. We’re here to make sure our customers get exactly what they need. Based in Doncaster, our family-run business is dedicated to providing top-notch tool hire services. Specializing in the cutting and sculpting of porcelain tiles. But we don’t stop there — we offer a vast array of power tools, small machinery, and equipment for hire. Our on-site workshop provides expert equipment repair and maintenance services. Plus our fully stocked hardware store ensures you have everything you need to get the job done, whether you’re a seasoned professional or a passionate DIY enthusiast.
Our Story
Founded by Lewis Foster in September 2020, L.F. Hire began during a time of uncertainty and growth. As a full-time DIY enthusiast with a background in transport management, I saw the increasing demand for tools and equipment following the lockdown. With a single petrol compactor listed on Facebook Marketplace, I took a chance and quickly realized that there was a real opportunity in this space. The business grew as customers began requesting more tools, and I worked hard to meet their needs — often learning how to repair and maintain equipment on the go.
With the support of my fiancée, Amy Shanks, who now manages the finances, we continued to expand our inventory and build relationships with customers. By early 2021, after securing my dad’s collection of tools and equipment, we were able to grow the business further. We started small, working out of shipping containers, and gradually turned them into a functional workshop and store. Over time, L.F. Hire evolved into something much bigger than we ever imagined.
L.F. Trade & DIY Supplies is an extension of our original business, focusing on retail products for both trade professionals and DIY enthusiasts. We’ve worked hard to partner with industry-leading brands like Rubi (tile cutting and placement specilists), ProSolve (site essentials), Centurian (fixings and fasteners), Faithfull (quality tools), Blue Spot (hand tools with lifetime guarantees), and Neilsen (automotive and general tools). These partnerships allow us to offer a carefully curated range of products for our customers.
